Piauí is expected to produce 6.7 million tons of grains this year, according to an estimate by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). This is an increase of 13.11% compared to 2022, when grain production reached 5.9 million tons. This will be the seventh consecutive year of record grain production in the state.
According to IBGE’s agricultural production estimate, in 2023, corn production is expected to reach 3.1 million tons in Piauí. This means that, there will be an increase of 551 thousand tons [21.26%] compared to the previous year, when 2.5 million tons were produced.
Soybeans are expected to reach 3.2 million tons, adding up to a growth of 181 thousand tons compared to 2022, which recorded a production of just over 3 million. The combined production of corn and soybeans, according to the institute, will reach 6.4 million tons.
